It's the same old story, the Amazon is disappearing, but no one seems to be doing anything about it. In my lifetime the world's biggest rainforest has almost halved in size.

Sky and WWF have joined forces to help save one billion trees in the Amazon rainforest and protect around three million hectares from deforestation. That's an area of rainforest roughly the size of Belgium. 

Protecting the world's forests is vital to tackling climate change. Deforestation accounts for up to a fifth of the world's greenhouse gas emissions, which is about the same as all the world's cars, planes, trains and ships put together. In addition to this the diversity of life within the rainforest is being wiped away. Around one tenth of all the species of animals live here.

It might seem a world away from our lives but this is important. Please help by giving what you can. At 4,810m (15,781ft) Mont Blanc is the highest mountain in the Alps and Western Europe. By pushing myself to the limit I am hoping to help make a difference to the world at the same time.
