Story
Throughout my 14 years in the Military I had the privilage to work with individuals who have inspired and lead, motivated and driven me and others to deliver overwhelming results.
Some have tragically given their lives in the environment a soldier dreamt of, though potracted periods in this setting shatter dreams and the reality of the long hard slog become apparent. The side affects of this exposure and solitude to an unforgiven theatre can soon become an inner war on home ground. A war which family, friends and mates can not understand and therefore support, intervene and ultimately win.
As I embark on my greatest challenge to date I have chosen Combat Stress as my charity. Even though I remain unscathed by the experience of war, I truly understand the need for this critical charity.
Only a year or so ago I was with a few colleagues still serving who had completed another tour. When one of them turned to me and asked" Does your performance coaching deal with people's heads? I replied "why"? His response " because mine is a complete mess" The majority of individuals cannot bare to tell someone or ask for help, such is the stigma behind PTSD. This leads to the problem being compounded and a vicious cycle ensues.
Due to the confidentiality of the services Combat Stress provide, this should no longer be a problem, the main problem is making people aware Combat Stress exists, so they can put the years of pain and agony behind them. Support from you will enhance and expand the treatment for sufferer's and ultimately pave the way for individuals to kick start their lives with true optimism.
Thanks for supporting me on this expediton and primarily contributing to a charity that will be essential to future members leaving the armed forces.
Kind reagards
