Story
On the 18th March it was my birthday, I was 21, I wish! plus 49, yes I am 70. My birthday was going to be a celebration with my family and friends, but Covid has put a stop to that. But I will not be negative about it. So I have decided that I should do something positive, something that will benefit others. With that in mind, I am going to complete the Leeds 10k this September, with my daughter in law Julie Blackburn and my sister in law, Elaine Lowe, all donations going to Yorkshire Brain Tumour Charity, therefore I am asking you my friends if you would sponsor me. As you know this charity is very close to my heart, ever since I lost my husband nearly 14 years ago with the most aggressive brain tumour, I have fundraised and supported this wonderful charity. Every penny raised goes towards research and supporting patients and their carers.
Brain Tumours can affect anyone, at any time. They are the single biggest killer of the under 40's in the UKEvery week approx 15 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour in Yorkshire. Research has been underfunded for brain tumours, with current treatments nearly 40 years old.We aim to fund world-class research here in Yorkshire to find treatments and a cure. Whilst we do that we will provide support to people living with and affected by brain tumours, emotionally, practically and financially for as long as they need us.
