Story
In Lockdown, Ben, then aged 8, read a book called ‘Boys Who Dare to be Different’ and took inspiration from an 8 year boy called Christian McPhilamy who grew his hair for 2 years to donate it to a hair loss charity.
For the last 2 years, Ben has stopped getting his hair cut and he now has a luscious mane half way down his back which he is going to donate to The Little Princess Trust so that it can be made into a wig for a child who needs it more than he does.
The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other conditions. Not having hair can mean that they get bullied and end up losing their confidence and identity.
For the last 2 years Ben has often been mistaken for a girl, but he has taken it all in his stride, gaining in confidence and often correcting people and taking the time to explain what he was doing.
Ben is now ready for the chop and we are incredibly proud of him. His courage to do something different, his perseverance and his determination and compassion to want to help others has us bursting with pride.
If you would like to show your support for Ben I know he would be very grateful for your donation. We have set a target of £550 as this is what it costs the charity to make one wig.
Check out their website at www.littleprincesses.org.uk to find out how you can help give young people back what cancer takes away. The Trust relies solely on the efforts of enthusiastic community fundraisers. They receive no formal funding. Please help us to raise money for them so that they can help more families.
