Story
My stunning Daughter Alex was diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa some 18 years ago.
Alex was a very determined and gifted person who struggled with her illness and yet found time to help other sufferers. She became a skilled and devoted nursing assistant and looked after her patients with a kind cheerfulness that masked her internal conflict.
Between 1997 to 2004 Alex spent an estimated fifty-two months as an inpatient (four years and four months) roughly around six months of every year over this period in hospital. On one occasion she was so unwell she needed to be nursed in a wheelchair. She always smiled through her pain, but would continue to fight this awful disease.
Anorexia took its toll on my lovely daughter and Alex lost her battle in March 2009.
Our friends, Russell, Ben and Stuart are raising money in memory of Alex by driving from their homes in Kent into Dover, across to Calais then a journey travelling to Paris ,Banassac, Pas de la Casa, Adorra, Barcelona, Benidorm then onto Almeria finishing in Madrid Spain, in a well chosen old Ford Granada Limo.
