Welcome and thanks for reading!
Those of you who know us well might be aware of the fact that sport has never featured highly in our lives. We would always prefer a good book to a run in the park (and still do). But never afraid of a challenge we have signed up for the Stockholm Triathlon which is taking place in less than a month - on 29th August! It's a real triathlon involving swimming, cycling and running (not quite the Olympic distances but still). We decided not to do it just for fun (!) but to try and raise some money for the Cambodian Children's charity CamKids. Christina travelled to Cambodia two years ago and the huge number of begging children in the streets has left a lasting impression. Cambodia was left crippled and ravaged by decades of Civil War and the atrocities of the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s when approx 25% of the country's population died. Today more than 30% of the population live below the poverty line, struggling to survive on less than 1$ per day. CamKids was established to help poor children, orphans and street children. It also offers support to families in local communities trying to reduce child abandonment. Two current projects are the construction of a kitchen in an orphanage and the construction, equipping and staffing of a school for a poor rural community. The charity's website provides lots more information - please have a look.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
