Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Here's my story.

On December 23rd 2014 my step Father passed away suddenly from a heart attack, he was a tree specialist and died at work, a friend tried to do CPR but sadly he died before we could say goodbye to him. He was always full of fun, life and mischief, he leaves a massive void in our lives. Every day my heart hurts from missing him, not a day passes when I don't think of him. When I go running and walking I head to where there's loads of trees surrounding me, I feel he's closest when I'm there. It's the silly things that hurt most, like pancake day, he used to love his pancakes and maple syrup! I could talk to him about anything and he would be great with listening and advice, he made me a little bit stronger.  He would do anything for his mates and family, he was a genuine and honest man. Everyone I spoke to who had worked with him and knew him held him in high regard, he was an incredibly hard worker and had respect for anyone who had a similar work ethic as him, he loved to hear of people achieving and doing well through sheer hard graft. I can treasure my memories of him and have some fantastic photos too. When I do this trek I'll be doing it with a pair of fairly weighty orange steel toe capped boots on my back, they were his and I want to feel like he's walking with me. Even though I got to see him quite a bit, I wish it could have been more, going through something like this makes you realise all those who are precious in our lives.

Since writing my story my family had news of further tragedy. My Uncle Idris aged 56 was found passed away from a heart attack, he was possibly one of the most generous and kind people I have ever been blessed to have had in my life. The news of his passing devastated so many people, he was incredibly popular as a person and as an ice cream man. He was a huge supporter of the blood bikes and would regularly donate his profits to them. He had only recently got his own Raven Riders top from a biker group who he adored!!! And with their blessing I wish to take his top with me also on my trek, his nickname was "The Whipster", he was so happy when he got his top, it's such a shame he never got to wear it more. These bikers escorted him on his final journey along with some of the blood bikes, emotional doesn't even come close to what was felt the day we had to say goodbye. He is truly missed.

I have recently been in touch with the lovely family of a gentleman called Simon Clough, he too was a tree surgeon like Rob and ex serviceman, he was only 28 years old and passed away last October without warning from heart failure. His family along with his girlfriend Vicky are devastated with the void he leaves behind. I have spoken with his brother in law Mike who along with his wife Gem (Si's sister) has told me about Si, they speak of him so fondly, "he was a larger than life character and always up to mischief", Si and Vicky had been saving for a mortgage together, he was extremely happy since meeting her. Si should never have been taken away this early, this trek and the money raised will help people such as Si and the loved ones he leaves behind to not have to go through such sadness. Many thanks to Hilarie Si's  Mum for contributing also xXx
