Fundraising for Educaid Sierra Leone
Story
Christian Cole was a committed Freemason who, in addition to other charitable works, was incredibly passionate about making education accessible to less fortunate children in Africa.
In his youth, he dreamed of becoming a doctor, but despite passing the entrance exams for medical school in the UK, finances prevented this dream from becoming a reality.
To ensure this was not a barrier faced by other young people, throughout his life, he sponsored the education of many children and young people, improving their life chances and enabling them to achieve their dreams.
Now that his life journey has ended, The Cole Family set up this fund to ensure his legacy continues and many more children benefit from improved life chances via access to education.

EducAid is a UK-registered charity established in 1995 to restore and strengthen education during and in the aftermath of Sierra Leone’s civil war. Running Schools
EducAid provides free, high-quality education to almost 700 of Sierra Leone’s most vulnerable and underprivileged children and young people within its five model schools. The effectiveness of EducAid’s student-centred approach to education is demonstrated by the fact that, despite many of our students coming from turbulent backgrounds, they regularly achieve some of the best exam results in Sierra Leone.
Training Teachers
EducAid recently (2022) completed a three-year school improvement programme across six northern districts of Sierra Leone. The Department closely monitored Science, Technology & Innovation for scaling across primary schools in Sierra Leone. This project has evolved into the Sierra Leone Education Innovation Challenge, launching in September 2022 with EducAid focusing on Freetown and Port Loko districts, working closely with 65 schools.
Equality Programmes
EducAid works to increase the safety, enrolment, retention and achievement of girls and young women at every level with innovative programmes: The Strong Girl Incubator, Maronka Girls Safe House, Girl Power Groups and White Ribbon Campaigns.
Degree Course with the University of Makeni
EducAid runs a tertiary-level degree course with the University of Makeni Department of Business Administration & Management.
