My running journey started only a year and a half ago. Before this I hadn't ran much further than for a bus and honestly detested partaking the sport! I initially ran to boost my mental health during a tough time, and I've kept it on not just for the physical and mental health benefits, but the immense enjoyment I (finally!!) get from it. It's been a road of literal highs and lows but when I decided to sign up for my first ever marathon I thought 'why not abroad? In Norway? At midnight??'
I've even dragged my mum along for the ride, carrying out the 4.2K mini marathon, enticing her as an excuse for her to travel to the arctic circle! We decided as we're doing a unique running adventure together, this would be the perfect opportunity to fundraise for a good cause.
As running has had such a fantastic impact on my health mentally, I wanted to run for a local mental health charity SAMH to help support and improve mental health for those of us and our loved ones affected because physical and mental health are both so important!
