Story
I am running the London Marathon on behalf of JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) inspired by my little girl Molly.
Molly developed diabetes just before her 4th birthday and it was horrible to deal with at first, more for us than her. Molly coped with the lifestyle change superbly. She is 5 now and will be 6 the day after the London Marathon.
Molly has to deal with 4-6 blood tests a day which she does herself and at the moment has to have 2 injections a day to provide her with enough insulin to keep her healthy. Sooner or later this will most probably be 4 times a day. A lot for a young girl I know but she just gets on with it.
If I could swap with her I would but I cant so to do my bit to hopefully one day help her and other diabetic people I am going to run the London Marathon which will be a long hard slog but as anyone with children will tell you it's a small price to pay.
Its not just the day either all the training to get through this will be tough so I am putting my body on the line and I hope you lot will reward JDRF for me doing so.
Precious Time - Finding the cure for type 1 diabetes is just a matter of time - time spent conducting research. But that precious time costs money. Help us fund vital research. This costs £2,000 per week which our target does not even meet but if you all are kind enough we might even get to that full week of research.
