Story
In September last year my brother was diagnosed with M.E. after being unwell since March.
He used to play for 2 football teams, play golf, skateboard and scooter, now he can only manage to walk half way along the street on a good day.
We have had little to no help from doctors and the hospital due to the lack of information about the condition, so it has been a constant struggle since he was diagnosed. It has affected not only my brother but the whole family’s day to day lives.
So I have decided to raise funds to help support the AYME who have been nothing but helpful to us, pointing us in the right direction and helped putting us in contact with others who have been affected by this condition.
M.E. is a painful, disabling and isolating illness which affects an estimated 25,000 children and young people across the UK. Symptoms include extreme pain and fatigue in the muscles to the point of collapse, weakened immune systems and severe cognitive problems. M.E can leave children and young people wheelchair or even bed-bound for many years. Many are unable to attend school and become isolated. AYME is their lifeline.
AYME is dedicated to the emotional and practical support of children and young people with M.E and their families. Membership is free so AYME relies on fundraising events such as this to keep its vital services running.
