Latest news: 3 big training rides down and 5 more to go before the event. Building up the distances slowly, and looking to achieve at least one 70 mile ride before the event... only getting slightly worried!
---------
So, having reached my thirties I wanted to mark the occasion with a challenge and raise some money for a great cause.
The Big Blue Bike Ride 2010, a joint KPMG/Alzheimer’s Society relay cycle challenge spanning the breadth and length of the , has given me just this opportunity. I will be joining the relay for two sections: June 6th - to (77miles) June 9th – Hertford to Canary Wharf, (35miles) Having not really owned/been on a bike since the age of 16, it is looking a little daunting, however I am willing to overlook this knowing that I am raising money for a great cause. Any donations will be gratefully received and will make a huge difference to the efforts of the Alzheimer’s Society. For those unfamiliar with the charity, the Alzheimer’s Society is the leading care and research charity for people with dementia and those who care for them. Any money raised will be supporting their research programmes looking at the causes of dementia and its treatment, will allow the ongoing provision of a wide network of services open to the 700,000 people currently living with dementia in the UK, and to their families. Many, many thanks for the support and special mention to dad for the training sessions. (Now, off to invest in a decent pair of padded shorts…)
