Story
On Sunday 24th July 2016, six brave JMDA Warriors will venture into the unknown to race down the River Avon in a homemade raft in support of Blackmarston School for disabled and children with learning difficulties in Hereford Worcestershire. Your valuable donation will help build a road safety garden which is so important in their personal development. (The images below are a representation of the garden that will be made).
The raft named ‘Usain Boat’ after the legendary sprinter, will start in the town of Wasperton, the team will paddle seven and a half miles along the Avon, over two weirs to the finishing point in Stratford-upon-Avon.
The annual raft race is run by the Wellesbourne & District Lions Club; the event has raised around £750,000 over the years, this year is their 40th Anniversary so it’s sure to be an event to remember!
It will truly challenge the design expertise of JMDA who are product design specialists based in Worcestershire. This year JMDA is celebrating its 25th Anniversary and have become official corporate sponsors of the Wooden Spoon Charity. Wooden Spoon is dedicated to helping disadvantaged and disabled children across the UK. JMDA specialise in the design and development of child safety products and feel very close to the work that Wooden Spoon carry out.
We really appreciate any donations that will help to support this very worthwhile charity and also help to motivate JMDA through the long and wet journey down the River Avon!
