Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 31st January I will be travelling to Northern Sweden, just South of the Arctic Circle in order to spend 8 Days and 7 Nights in temperatures as low as minus 35 degrees Celsius to raise money for Rowcroft Hospice. I will be going with a group of people including my good friend James Yates and Colin Leslie from the local Radio station Palm FM who will be reporting daily.
As this is a personal challenge I have paid for the cost of the trip and all the equipment myself and as such 100% of the money donated will go straight to the Hospice.
The first half of my trip will be spent living in a remote log cabin which predictably doesn't have the benefit of power. This will be relatively luxurious in comparison to the latter half of my trip which will be spent in a snow-hole shelter we will build ourselves.
This snow hole will be our only shelter from the cold and even with the benefit of a fire which will have to be kept alight all throughout the night, the temperature inside will still be around freezing point.
I have already completed a weekend of training outside locally which covered first aid, snaring, orienteering and food preparation techniques however I personally hate the cold, love modern conveniences and love being around my family so this trip will be incredibly difficult for me.
I arrive back in the UK days before my Son's 2nd Birthday. Although the idea of going on this trip is incredibly daunting, Rowcroft are a fantastic charity who provide palliative and end of life care to people from all walks of life.
As mentioned, 100% of your money will be going to Rowcroft as the trip has been paid for separately so please dig as deep as you can and I will do my very best not to let you down.
