Story
I'm out of retirement to run the 2017 London Marathon for Cavendish Cancer Care. I have a black tie dinner the night before and due to the early start on Sunday thought I might as well stay up and run in my DJ.
Cavendish is a local Sheffield charity providing support, guidance, signposting and therapy for anyone affected by cancer. That includes partners, family and children of anyone affected. I'm running for Cavendish partly because they asked me if I would - but also because …… A few people know this already …. It isn't a secret but I have not broadcast it …
I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called a neuroendocrine tumour in Summer 2016.
And to date I have been lucky. After a few procedures and investigations I had it removed without the need for any further more radical treatment. And broadly I have not been affected. I'm hoping to stay lucky. Many are not as fortunate and that's where Cavendish comes in.
I will be eternally grateful if you could see your way to donating a few pounds to the cause. As always you will have access to my story, my training, my photos and race story. www.challenge30.net
