^Figured I'd just leave that in there.
Hello! My name's Chris, and I'm 16 years old. I don't think you really want to hear much about me, so here's the story as to why I'm raising money:
Since long before I was born, my father's heart has been in an awful condition. He's had 4 heart attacks, most recently in the late 1990s, when the doctors who saved his life doubted that he'd live until the 21st Century.
However, it is now, on the 2nd of April 2015, as we celebrate the 60th birthday of my very-much-alive father, that I understand just how much has been done for him by medical professionals. I want to give something back, but I need YOUR help.
The UK's single biggest cause of death is coronary heart disease, and the British Heart Foundation are spearheading the fight against it. Given all that heart disease research (courtesy of Heart Foundation funding) has done to keep my father alive, I think it's only fair that I help them out. Of course, I can't do it alone.
For every £1 that you give, 81p will go directly to life-saving research. Check https://www.bhf.org.uk/get-involved/donate/where-your-money-goes if you want to look at some of the things even small amounts can do.
So, it's your money, right? What am I doing to help?
I'm shaving my head.
The Mane of Majesty's been growing for approximately 2 years, for precisely this purpose. As I don't really have an awful lot of money to give, I'm letting this personal challenge be what raises awareness and, with a bit of luck, will inspire YOU to give what you can, too. Even if you can't donate, just share this page on all your social media. Just raising awareness and spreading the word can do so, so much.
Thank you! :D
