We fulfil unforgettable Special Days to support seriously ill 16 - 40 year olds

Story

On May the 5th this year ( Yes Fa Cup Final Day) I will be taking part in a charity boxing match against my brother Simon Harwood. We have both decided that we would like to support the Willow foundation in memory of a friend of both Sim and myself Toma. I met Toma through a close friend Adam Dowell when he was married to Lisa and had some great away days on a number of stag dos that i will never forget. Unfortunately Toma passed away Suddenly in August 2009 and is a huge loss to everyone who was lucky enough to have spent time with him. Please read below just a little bit about the Willow foundation and Toma and how it helped him and continues to help others.

The Willow Foundation is the only charity of its kind providing 'special days' for seriously ill 16 to 40 year olds throughout the UK. It was founded in 1999 by Bob and Megs Wilson as a lasting memorial to their daughter, Anna, who died of cancer aged 31. Bob Wilson is the former Arsenal and Scotland goalkeeper and TV presenter.

Every special day aims to provide beneficiaries and their loved ones with a break from the realities of their diagnosis and treatment.  At a time of uncertainty, spending quality time with family and friends can help restore a sense of normality, boost confidence and create precious memories for the future.

A friend of mine, Thomas Richardson (known as 'Toma) qualified for a 'special day' experience after diagnosis in May 2008 with Malignant Melanoma and while having treatment, enjoyed an all expenses paid weekend in London, where he was treated to the very best hospitality; a stay in a luxury 4 star hotel, return train tickets, tickets to see a west-end show, a trip up the River Thames, a spin on the London Eye, a meal at Gordon Ramseys restaurant and a chauffeur on call at all times for his personal use.

Toma thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and had hoped to give something back to the charity himself some day. Sadly, it wasn't to be after he passed away suddenly in August 2009 however, his family continue to raise funds in his memory for this worthwhile cause.

Toma now has his own trust named after him, with The Willow Foundation therefore, please give generously, in memory of Toma.

I would appreciate all donations as this is for a great cause and hope to see everyone on the night supporting not only Sim and myself but a great cause in the process.

Thanks
