About the Cause
Shaw Trust empowers 75,000 disabled and disadvantaged people a year to achieve their dreams.
At our project in Salisbury, local disabled and disadvantaged people come together to take part in horticulture activities and learn valuable life skills. This work helps them grow in confidence making every day activities, such as going shopping or making a healthy meal, less daunting and more manageable. Our teams also take great pride in nurturing the grounds of some local churches and public places, keeping them looking beautiful for everyone to enjoy.
Information about the difference your donation can make.
I attach a photo of David (a huge Arsenal fan) who attends the Salisbury Project. David has learning difficulties which make some everyday activities challenging. He says, “I really like coming to the project, I can get on buses now and have learnt how to cook dinner!”
What your sponsorship can pay for at the Salisbury project:
· £5 pays for some Willow for a disabled or disadvantaged person to make a sculpture, learning a new skill
· £10 supplies clay for a pottery workshop, giving an outlet for creativity
· £20 buys new gardening tools to be able to grow plants to sell in the project shop
· £50 helps support a disabled or disadvantaged person through a City and Guilds qualification helping to achieve their dreams of a paid job in the future
About me....
After an absence of 18 months due to an operation on acute Achilles injury, I am attempting to start running again! On Sunday 6th March 2011, I am aiming to run in the Bath Half Marathon in aid of the Shaw Trust and the Salisbury project as detailed above.
Having visited the site last September, I was very impressed with everything they are doing down there and felt I wanted to do something to help James and his team and all the marvellous work they do. If you can spare a few quid to help support this excellent project that I would be extremely grateful as I am sure James and his team will be also! Many thanks in anticipation of your kind donations.
