********** THE WALK OF PAIN **********
(Sunday the 26th August 2012)
Last year I abseiled down the Spinnaker Tower and lot's of lovely people helped me raise over four hundred pounds for the Parkinsons UK charity. This year I thought about doing something slightly different and less daring as I actually like jumping out of planes and walking down towers soooo......... I will attempt with some friends and family THE SPONSERED WALK OF PAIN!!!
I'm not joking, I struggle to walk to the end of the garden and this year we are going to attempt to walk from Gosport Ferry to Portsmouth Ferry THE LONG WAY ROUND. I believe on foot that's approx 18 miles and over 9 hours of walking.
My mum who is very close to me and who I love dearly has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and I feel quite helpless, and after talking and listening to many people I have been suprised and shocked at how many people have or know people who have been diagnosed with this awful condition. I feel this charity is one that is sometimes "missed" or "overlooked" by people so I am looking for as much support as possible. Anything anyone can pledge is a bonus and can make a difference for example.........
£2 is enough to pay for a DVD called "being there" to be sent to someone recently diagnosed with Parkinson's
£26 could pay for a nurse to answer calls on the helpline for a whole hour.
£150 is enough to fund a Parkinson's nurse for a day
£1,000 for me is the most important value - This could fund a cutting edge research project for a whole week and you never know that could be the week they crack it!!
