Just over a year ago a family friend was given some horrendous news in that their eldest son Ewan was diagnosed with leukaemia. During the last year Ewan has endured intensive chemotherapy at regular intervals. As a consequence of this his immune system has been reduced to zero leaving him open to infection. This means as well as regular visits to the hospital for chemotherapy, Ewan, his Mum (Laura) and his Dad (Simon) are also regular visitors to Queens Medical Centre due to the various infections that attack his fragile immune system. These visits can often last for long periods. We often talk about people that are worse off than ourselves however having your little boy or girl dignosed with cancer and have no power to help when they are sick. We struggle to think of how.
