Story
In September I will be embarking on a walk up Mt. Snowdon in Wales. This may not seem like a massive challenge to some but I am doing it in order to raise money for the Sturge Weber Foundation. I am also doing it to help raise awareness of Sturge Weber, a neurological disease that effects 1 in 50,000 people.
My twin brother, Alex, was born with this disease and at the early age of 4 years old had to have a hemispherectomy. Sturge Weber syndrome results in calcium building up on the brain as a result of lack of blood flow and this operation is a mesaure which is taken to prevent the spread of the calcium to the other side of the brain.
Thankfully, Alex made a wonderful recovery and only suffers from mild Cerebal Palsy. Some children are not as lucky and the condition can be far worse. It is a hard time for many families and the more awareness and money we can raise, the better.
For more information on Sturge Weber please visit http://www.sturgeweber.org or feel free to ask me =)
I would be very grateful for any donations you can affoord to make - be in 50p or £50 every little helps!
Thankyou for taking the time to read my plea and thank you for any donations xxx
PS: If anyone is interested in doing this walk with me, please get in touch! The more the merrier!
