Story
Two things that most people know about me is that I adore running and that I've struggled with my mental health in recent years. Running has helped me in many ways to improve my wellbeing. Running hasn't 'fixed' everything though and I have accessed support from services within CPFT to help me too. Head to Toe is the charity for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT). We help our amazing NHS staff to provide even better care and treatment by enhancing the services that CPFT provides, supporting people of all ages receiving mental health, community and social care across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
I like running because everyone has different reasons to run. Mine is mostly for my mental health. Most people also know that my most preferred distance to run is the half marathon distance. The most challenging part of running Cambridge Half Marathon will probably not be the running or distance. It is a very popular and busy race with thousands of runners and spectators. I really struggle with big feelings of anxiety at big events which feels much more challenging and tiring than the actual running part. I was going to avoid big races for a couple of years, even though they are often some of the best races, due to how much stress and anxiety they create for me. I decided that the one exception would be Cambridge Half, if I do it for charity. Head to Toe feels like the perfect charity to run for at this time!
