In late September 2018 I got a call from my cousin. He said that my little cousin after two weeks at university had gotten sick and was in a coma. I jumped in my car and drove straight up north to go see her and support my family. After 24 hours of sitting by her bedside, and praying that she would make it through, the doctors spoke to all of us in a small room and said the dreaded words... its 50/50 whether she lives or dies. She had contracted meningitis which then evolved into Meningococcal septicemia. 

I never knew how bad something like this could be and for the youngest person in my family to get it, it just seemed cruel and unfair. 

I thank God that my cousin made it out of this! It's something I am grateful for every single day but some people aren't that lucky. That's why for my first White Collar Boxing fight I'm raising money for Meningitis now! which has a vision of no one in the UK getting meningitis and helping everyone affected get the support they need to rebuild their lives.
