Story
Hi there!
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page.
I am Chiara. I am a researcher at the University of Sheffield and when I am not in the lab, you will find me either spending quality time with my little family or trotting around the beautiful Sheffield countryside. I started taking running seriously in September 2021, when extremely fed up with covid, work and chaotic family life I decided to try to take some time for myself. Now, 6 months later, I still enjoy exploring the beautiful views Sheffield has to offer while singing to myself nursery rhymes or having a chat with my running buddies, Heather and Emma.
I love to keep myself motivated and I constantly set myself new running challenges. My latest one is to run the Sheffield Half Marathon and in doing so I will be raising money for Genetic Disease Research at the University of Sheffield. Why? Well… because IT IS AN EXTREMELY GOOD CAUSE!
In the UK alone, 1 in 25 children is affected by a genetic disorder, which will most likely have a big impact on their life expectancy and quality of life. The money I will raise - thanks to your kind donations - will go towards pioneering gene therapy treatments that will offer hope to families dealing their day-to-day lives with genetic diseases.
I got to admit it, I am a bit nervous about this new challenge ahead, but I am sure yours donations will boost my morale and help me reach the finishing line!
