Story

***update 9/8/11*** A massive thank you to those who have donated, please spread the word! I'm alive and well after the fast, it was tough but i pulled through. my videos (apart from the final video where i break my fast) are up online, just click on the link below).

I'm pleased to say in HK I have fundraised almost £300! That's not including individual contributions, if that's included I've surpassed £500! Together we have made a positive difference! Thank you.

hey guys thanks for visiting.

I have decided to go on a 48-hour fast to raise money for the hunger relief project in Somalia and surrounding countries in East Africa.

Why am I doing this? I want to make a difference in life. Though i cannot change the world on my own I believe that my actions will hopefully posivitely affect those around me to be more pro-active. Whether it be through donantions or even just making them think why, then my goal is achieved.

On Friday, having received an email whilst at work about World Vision and relief efforts in East Africa. I thought "I don't want to just give. I want to inspire, I want to make a wider difference." Having just only worked there for over 2 months, still being a newbie, I took charge and want to show my commitment and through strong will I want to evoke others to donate.

Sure, I can ask around and ask people to donate. But I believe that by fasting I would show solidarity to regions affected by the famine. The hardship I'm putting myself through is nothing in comparison to what's happening in Somalia. In doing this I hope to inspire others to make a stance and become more proactive in their beliefs.

Rome was definately not built in a day. I don't expect miracles. If you have reached this far you've probably done more than the average person. Size does not matter, no matter how big or small your donations. Please just give whatever you can.

Don't let me fast in vain! Those who knows me I am like a cookie monster, except without the cookie part! I just love to eat. This is why my 48-hour fast is even more meaningful because the challenge that lies ahead of me is a big one. If that isn't enough to push you to dig deep, then let me ask you this:

When was the last time you truly felt hunger?

I start my 48-hour fast on Aug 4th Thursday 6.30am (GMT). I've also decided to upload video of my progress throughout the fast to let you guys know how I'm getting on!

Don't do it later. Do it now. thank you =0)
