A Battery (The Chestnut Troop) will be embarking on the most adventurous challenge yet. Members of the Battery are determined to travel a distance of 2,023 miles from their home base in Larkhill to the Crimean Peninsula in 30 days in the month of June.
From 1854 to1856, the British, French and other allied forces fought a winning battle against Russia where more than 12,000 Russian soldiers perished, the French lost 1,700, and the British lost 2,500. The Chestnut Troop will run for every soldier who gave their life during this conflict.
The challenge is an ambitious fundraising effort by the Battery to raise much-needed funds for the regimental charity, First Trust. First Trust provides financial support to members of the regiment, their families, and ex-servicepersons.
Members of the battery and regiment are kindly asked to support this fundraising challenge in whatever way they possibly can. You can donate through our Chestnut JustGiving page, and share our page on social media and Whatsapp groups. 'Every Little Helps'!
