There are 14.7million people – that’s more than one in six – in the UK living with a neurological condition. Here at the country's leading neurological centre, we’re passionate about supporting the hospital to help improve the lives of patients through treatment and research.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page, we are raising money for Picks Disease, this is a rare neurodegenerative disease that causes destruction in nerve cells in the brain, it strikes when you are in your prime, diagnosis can take up to 3 years and although there is no progressive deterioration leading to death, there is no treatment. My mum (Michelle’s) is in the final stages of this cruel disease and we wanted to raise awareness of its rarity and to help to meet the needs of those who care for people with Picks. Your money will help to provide peer support and specialist experience for the carers and through the National Brain Appeal which is the charitable arm of the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery your money will be used to help research Picks disease.

This means a lot and I wanted to do something as I feel so helpless, so we decided to cycle to Paris! A big challenge for us; but with your help and support we can do this!

Michelle & Cheryl.
