Story
HEY GUYS,
This year I am fundraising for the 'Meningitis Research Foundation' and I will be raising money for further research and development of treatments for Meningitis.
In aid of this, I will be running the LONDON MARATHON 2024 🏃♀️ (At the moment I can't run up the stairs but I have 10 months to find my running shoes) 😂
This Foundation is extremely close to my heart ❤
A little background:
Mid March 2022 my dad fell ill. After a dose of antibiotics for what we taught was a Urinary Tract infection, he was sent to hospital to be put in an induced coma to fight a deeper infection, Sepsis.
After a meeting with the doctors, it was discovered that dad also contracted Bacterial Meningitis. It is inflammation of the lining around the brain and spinal cord. An infection that affects 1 in 10 people. A disease that can kill within 24hrs. 2 in 10 can be left with an impairment simular to brain injury or amputation. A life changing disease.
I travelled home from London in disbelief as to what was going on. "Once he wakes, he will be fine"
Unfortunately Dad never woke and passed away on the 28th of March 2022.
As a family we couldn't believe what was happening and how fast everything was moving. Everything we once had, and adored just gone. The spins to Cork City games, the cinema outings, chipper trips, Millwall matches, countless facetimes, London ventures, all gone.
He would definitely be laughing at the taught of me trying to run 42km in his name, but he would be right there with me, with his Millwall scarf at the finish line before the race even starts ❤
I would be extremely grateful for any donations you could make towards my goal, if unable to do so I would really appreciate if you could like and share with family and friends.
Thank you all in advance.
I will also take all the prayers for me and my poor feet 😂
Chelsea. x
