My Father, Derek Jennings suffered terribly with Dementia for over 10 years. It was horrid to see a man of true grit and immense physical capability cut down by this cruel illness. Dad quietly accepted his limitations without ever complaining making my job as his primary carer that little bit easier.
Old age is unstoppable so we must make sure research into how dementia sufferers can be helped, also never stops and this can only be achieved by greater funding. Dig deep in memory of Derek and his wonderful achievements as Husband , Dad , Grandad , Brother and.....

It started in 1974
- Lands End to John O'Groats in 8 days.
Thereafter, over the next 2 decades, there were more and more adventures on 2 wheels.
- Trans-America Oregon to Virginia in 7 weeks.
- Across the Andes Rio to Lima.
- Vancouver to Anchorage, via the North West Passage.
- Across Death Valley, Nevada, the hottest place on earth.
- 3 separate attempts to reach Tibet via the foothills of the Himalaya's.
No GPS , no mobile phone , no carbon frame bike , just a man on a mission in his 50's & 60's !
Derek sadly passed away in March 2021 aged 94 . He beat covid but dementia was one battle he could not win , he had a damn good go though ! God bless you Dad. We celebrate your life , a life of truly epic proportions.
