Story
Having lost one of my closest friends to suicide in 2020, I want to support the Samaritans as publicly as I can. It's important that everyone knows there are places to turn and people to talk to when they are desperate or need a listening ear. I am personally grateful for the support the Samaritans have offered people I love.
I was overwhelmed with support last year when I took on the Great North Run - then my first ever running event. This year I am going a step further: in the space of 3 weeks this autumn I will be doing the Great North Run, a sprint triathlon at Hever Castle, and the Virtual London Marathon. Everything I fundraise will be split evenly between the national Samaritans charity and my local Samaritans group.
I have struggled with my own mental health, and I hope that we can talk to each other more about our mental health and be open and supportive of each other.
