Story
Dementia is cruel - for the person living with it, and for their families and carers. My Dad, my Nan and my Auntie have (or had) dementia. Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity, and they campaign for change, fund research to find a cure and support people living with dementia. In doing this ride, I want to raise some money to help the important work that they do.
Starting on the east coast in the Thames estuary, the 200+ mile cycle ride bisects south London, passing Richmond park, bridging the Thames, touching part of Wiggin’s Olympic Gold time trial route, plus all the usual cross-country highlights, Silchester Village Hall, Mendip Hills, Cheddar gorge, arriving on the west coast for a seafront finish at Burnham-on-Sea (Somerset). The aim is to complete the ride between sunrise and sunset...
The longest ride I have done (up to 20th Feb 2020) is 71 miles, so over 200 is going to be a challenge!
