Story
In November, I'll be embarking the biggest challenge I have ever undertaken, emotionally and physically. However, this challenge is nothing compared to the challenges faced by women on a daily basis in war-torn regions around the globe. Together with 9 other women, I will be trekking across part of the Yamal Penisula in Siberia for 12 days, assisting the nomadic community of Nenets in their 60km reindeer herd migration across the frozen river Ob. They make this journey twice a year to prevent the herd from starving.
By taking part in this trek, I aim to raise funds and awareness, in particular for the organisation Women for Women International (http://www.womenforwomen.org.uk). They do a superb job of supporting marginalised women to earn and save money, improve health and well-being, influence decisions in their homes and community. Their support helps women in countries including Afghanistan, Iraq, Kosovo, Nigeria, Rwanda, and South Sudan to create sustainable change for themselves, their families and communities.
