Story
Thank you for visiting my Swim 22 JustGiving page :) .
For those of you that know me, you'll know why I have chosen to take on this challenge. In January this year, joined Diabetes UK as the next step in my fundraising career and over the last couple of months I have really been touched by this cause.
Most people will know somebody who has Diabetes, some will have Type 2, some Type 1 and some other types too. However, not everybody is aware of the devastating consequences, and for some people, these cannot be avoided.
Every 2 minutes, somebody is diagnosed with Diabetes, with 4 million people living with the condition, it's the fastest growing health threat in the UK. Diabetes is a major cause of blindness, lower limb amputation, kidney failure, heart attack and stroke.
Diabetes UK is there for everyone affected or at risk of Diabetes and our ultimate aim is to find a cure and put an end to it.
Diabetes costs the NHS £10 billion a year to deal with and manage complications of Diabetes. With continuous funding for lifesaving research, support groups, improving every day care and providing information to carers and people living with Diabetes, less people would be at risk of developing life changing complications like blindness and amputation.
I hope you feel you can sponsor me to take on this challenge, every penny donated will motivate me to swim the distance of the channel (22 miles!) this will be the furthest I have ever swam and I hope that it will also improve my fitness.
Thanks for reading and thank you for sponsoring me.
