Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I visited Uganda last year with Tearfund. It was a transformational experience. I saw some of the poorest people in the world learn that they were not born to be beggars, but having a purpose, and enabled to move from poverty to supporting their families, their communities, even the sick, the dying, the widows and those with HIV. It was not by huge injections of Western knowledge. Rather it was through the training and learning given by Ugandans to Ugandans. Out of the little they have in their hands, they are learning how to live out of their own resources, how to solve incredible difficulties. I came home and have continued to talk about these stories to anyone who will listen. A Ugandan who has learnt through the Tearfund training, will begin by asking "What have I got in my hands?" That is the starting point. I can run. Charlie can run. It is what we have in 'our hands' (Legs?!!!) - Would you join us in raising funds for Tearfund so that they can continue to train and resource the poorest of the poor? Thank you.
PS If that doesn't move you, just give us some money because you feel sorry for us training hard and it will really encourage us! Running in Hurricane Doris for 3 hours was not fun! Nor 18 miles in the rain last Friday!
