My Story

Whenever I get a free day, I volunteer for the charity Dress For Success. With other volunteers, we spend a few hours with a woman who has come to us from a disadvantaged background and has a job interview lined up. We offer free support including personal styling, interview appropriate outfits and interview coaching to not only help her look fantastic, but to help re-build her confidence to get the job and regain financial independence.

All of this takes place in our west London showroom, complete with great quality clothing and accessories donated by generous individuals, high street retailers and independent designers.

Working with Dress for Success is extremely rewarding and can be pretty emotional seeing women leave with so much more confidence than when they arrived. If you can imagine, a lot of these women simply don't have the funds to dress themselves for an interview so it can be a real life changing experience for them and their families.

What we need

Dress for Success is in desperate need for more space as the current showroom simply cannot facilitate the growing amount of women referred to us that need our help. We also need space for clothes as you can well imagine, stocking clothing and accessories for every size takes up a lot of room, plus ongoing daily donations. Finally, a business centre that women can come to to apply for jobs and receive further coaching.

I sincerely hope that you will offer your support for such a great organisation doing wonderful things for women. I've found that once you've heard of us, it's hard to imagine a world without Dress For Success in it.

We help women transition back into paid employment. We do this by firstly giving them a professional outfit and then one-to-one interview training. With the preparation and support our clients confidence levels elevate. We literally dress our clients for success. One in two of the women that we assist get a job.

Our clients before coming to us have been out-of-work for over a year. More than 40% of our clients are single parents. Some of the women who come to us are ex-offenders, former drug addicts and they can live in homeless shelters and refuges.
