Story
Eleanor has wanted to raise money for Pilgrims for a while. And what better way to do it, than to run a 3km charity run whilst wearing an elf suit! There may be sparkly wings and glitter involved too - we're not called the Glitter Elves for nothing!
I'm incredibly proud of Eleanor for wanting to run this event. She would dearly love to raise money to help patients who require hospice care, both at home and in the hospice. As a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner at Pilgrims, I see first hand how hospice care can positively impact people's lives. We aim to help people to live well. Quality of life is everything. By raising money, we could help in the following ways:
- £1 could pay for a patient to enjoy a mince pie and custard in the run up to Christmas
- £12 could pay for a patient’s Christmas dinner
- £20 could pay for a physiotherapy session to help patients stay active and enjoy festive games with their family on Christmas day
- £50 could pay for a Christmas tree to decorate our hospice family rooms
- £100 could pay for a therapy session for a child coping with the loss of a loved one over the festive season.
At its heart, Pilgrims is dedicated to providing skilled and compassionate care, free of charge, to people living with an incurable illness in east Kent. Their vision is that people with a life-limiting illness are supported and empowered to live well in mind & body, making the most of the time they have. They care for over 2,500 patients a year, at their 3 inpatient units in Canterbury, Thanet & Ashford, their therapy centres, or in patients’ own homes. With 80% of their funding being voluntary contributions, your support cannot be overstated.
