Story
When mum was diagnosed with Myeloma in 2019 she was assigned a specific Macmillan nurse called Amanda who could answer questions or provide support when she needed it.
This was also available to all the family and it was fantastic to know we had a support network that could answer any questions we had.
Whilst mum was in isolation in hospital after having her stem cell transplant, Macmillan provided a befriender who also come to visit mum regularly to have a chat and answer any questions mum had. As you can imagine, being in isolation definitely took its toll on mum but to have someone visiting her from Macmillan was something to look forward to.
Not only in mums case I’m sure, but thousands of people will have experienced the care and support from Macmillan that we have had over the last 36 months and I want to try give some of that love and support back 💕💕
(In light of the current COVID restrictions, edinburgh marathon has been rescheduled 2 times-therefore I have moved to complete York marathon which is closer to home).
