Simplyhealth Junior & Mini Great North Run 2019 · 7 September 2019 ·

NRAS works to support the 450,000 people living with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and the 10,000 children and young people living with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA), their families, friends, carers and the healthcare professionals who treat them.

Story

Hello Everyone,

Our Son Charlie has recently been diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) of the spine.

JIA is an autoimmune disease where the immune system gets confused and attacks healthy joint tissue, causing inflammation. Research is still ongoing as to why this occurs.

Charlie has struggled with this on a daily basis however he is now receiving treatment and support from the fantastic Paediatric Rheumatology Team at the RVI who have now worked out a treatment plan, including medication and long term physio. Whilst there is currently no cure, their priority is to keep Charlie as active as possible and to keep on playing the sports he loves.

Charlie has gave himself a goal to complete the Junior Great North Run and support the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society 'NRAS'. Even though he knows he will struggle, he still wants to complete the run in the hope of raising money and awareness for this amazing charity.

Please help support our lush lad. Much Love 💙
