Story
Hi my name is Charlie Rees. I am a local lad and spent 25 years in the Stroud area. I have never been one for charity work but always wanted to do my part and the 5 valleys walk was presented to me through my work and after events that went on this year now was the perfect time.
Earlier this year someone close to me came down with viral meningitis. Luckily for us all involved the person made a full recovery but I can tell you now it was no cake walk for anyone involved. The stress surrounding this person was unbearable. Everyone around them pulled in together and did our very best to get this person back to 100%. I can truly appreciate all the work because of this that Meningitis Now puts in, from research funding, to rehabilitation costs to supporting family members. Every little helps!
With Meningitis Now being right on our doorstep I have decided that to try and do my bit to rustle up some extra money I would do the 21 mile walk wearing a UNICORN ONESIE! I have had a lot of mixed views on this but I can tell you now my drive and determination will see this unicorn over the line come the 29th of September! If anyone knows me you will know that I am not exactly the ummm.... fittest of people so whether it’s a run, jog or walk, 21 miles is going to be quite the achievement for me!
I ask only for whatever you can donate and no amount is to small! Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope to see you all on the day!
