Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am fundraising for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation. This charity supports charities in foreign countries building schools, hospitals, houses for people who have no real access to many basic needs. JTYAF provides bursaries to many different organisations, such as the Air Cadet Organisation to send teams of workers out to countries such as Ghana to complete life changing projects in small villages.
I am currently completing the Air Cadet Junior Leaders Course, the top leadership course within the Air Training Corps. This course teaches leadership, teamwork and communication skills and will develop my own personal leadership. Additionally I will complete a fundraiser for JTYAF and I aim to raise a minimum of £500 through corporate sponsorship and then another fundraising event.
John Thornton completed the Junior Leaders Course and was awarded the top student for his attainment whilst on the course. He later instructed on the course as a member of staff. John was commissioned as a Royal Marine officer in 2004. He was tragically killed in Afghanistan in 2008.
Today, the JTYAF provide bursaries for numerous organisations, including the Air Cadets, to change the lives of the people who receive the bursaries and also for those in foreign countries who receive the work.
This summer JTYAF will provide bursaries for 10 Junior Leader graduates to travel to Ghana and complete work on a derelict primary school there to vastly improve the education system for the locals.
