Story
In February Charles will turn 3 and nine days later Pippa is 1. They are both very lucky children and have everything they need, so we thought that raising some funds for the Birth Trauma Association (BTA) would be a fitting way to celebrate their first shared birthday month.
It's no secret that I found Charles' birth very traumatic. Experiencing a crash c-section and being put to sleep not knowing if he would survive was the worst moment of my life. The physical and mental recovery took months but I was really fortunate to be treated for PTSD through a specific clinic for birth trauma. Without the work of the BTA these clinics wouldn't exist and without that treatment I would never have been able to have another baby. Pippa has been the light of our lives over the past year, we're so grateful she's completed our family and brought so much peace and contentment to my experience of birth and early motherhood.
Charles is healthy and thriving and we feel grateful every day that we were one of the lucky ones. I now volunteer as a peer supporter with BTA and some of the stories I hear are truly heartbreaking. So anything you are able to donate will make a huge impact to other women and their families having to navigate very tough times at a time with a newborn that is already hard enough.
We hope Charles & Pippa will be proud of the fact their birthdays raised some funds for a very special charity and not hate us too much for not getting any presents!
Thank you, Kate & Andy xx
