Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
JOB DONE ! I made it in 4 hours 52 mins. A hugh thank you to everyone who sponsored me (still time for those that haven't, I'm only a short way off my charity target). At least I didn't get overtaken by the back end of a donkey. I did see the donkey though....twice, first at the start trying to assemble the beast (one guy was reading the instructions the others looking very confused) and then later on I saw the head man on his own, he'd lost his rear end, struggling with his wheels ! Tarzan and his clones overtook me three times, but I did manage to overtake Mr Blobby, the man with a fridge on his back and Scooby Doo, mind you once I had Scooby doo in my sights it did take me over an hour to catch him up and overtake him ! Fantastic event, really enjoyed it, but glad its all over.
This year I'm running my first marathon. Must admit that the training programme has proved to be much harder than I anticipated !! Even mustering the enthusiasm to get the tracksuite on has proved to be pritty difficult yet alone pounding the road. I've probably only done half the miles my training schedule says I should have done but I have managed a couple of longer runs over the last few weeks. Before this, over the last 25 years, I've only run a couple of half marathons and a few 10 kms so I'm not sure their really is a marathon in me. Anyway on April 25th I have a place in a team that is running the London Marathon for the Family Holiday Association. This is a great little charity. For over 30 years, the Family Holiday Association has been working to give underprivileged children experiencing difficult circumstances the chance to have a much-needed break away with their family, usually at the British seaside. I am aiming to raise £1200 but hopefully more, so please give generously.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
I only have one target for the day - just to complete the course sometime on the 25th April.
Many thanks for your support, I really appreciate it.
