We provide free ‘Homes from Home’ to keep families together

Story

Hello everyone,

Thank you for taking time out to read this.

With the help of Lincoln Moorlands Railway Football Club I have secured use of their football ground on the 2nd of April 2017 @ 2pm.

Admission is £2 per person to come along and support this great cause.

Additional donations on the day are more than welcome.

The teams are made up of ex Sunday league footballers, employees of Vodafone Business UK and old school friends

The idea came about as i am getting married a few weeks after the above date and wanted to bring together friends of mine new and old as part of my Stag activities.

One of my Best Men and his wife endured a very stressful and turbulent time with the youngest daughter who required several bouts of surgery in order to live a normal life.

It was the Sick Children's Trust who provided accommodation for the family so they could be by their daughter's side and an immense amount of support and care to all.

The little lady has now made a full recovery and is now living a normal life.

This is a fantastic charity to support. As an honorary uncle , close family friend and hopefully one day a father I hope you will all support this cause and myself in order to reach my target.

Please read the below information regarding the Sick Children's Trust.

The Sick Children's Trust believes keeping families together significantly improves the recovery of seriously ill children. We provide free, high-quality ‘Home from Home’ accommodation, as well as emotional and practical support, to families with sick children in hospital in the UK.

The Sick Children’s Trust was founded in 1982 by two paediatric specialists, Dr Jon Pritchard and Professor James Malpas, who believed that having parents on hand during hospital treatment benefited a child's recovery. We are the longest-serving charity providing ‘Home from Home’ accommodation in the UK.

On average, 2 million children in the UK require hospital treatment each year. Every day, children are diagnosed with serious and life-threatening illnesses or have terrible accidents that leave them fighting for life. They often have to be transferred to specialist hospitals far from home to receive critical medical treatment. Life for their whole family is suddenly thrown into complete turmoil.

They work with the hospitals, supporting them in their role and providing complementary support to our families. They relieve some of the emotional and financial strains at a very stressful time, providing an essential service free of charge for up to 146 families every night, 365 days a year.

Whilst staying at one of our ‘Homes from Home’ is free of charge, its costs us around £28 to provide a bedroom for one night. We rely entirely on voluntary income to meet this cost.
