We provide emergency shelter and tools to support families overwhelmed by disaster

Story

Moved by the devastation facing people in parts of Japan following the recent earthquake and tsunami, Chappers (AKA The Monkey Lord) and Stick (Paul of Maplewood Studios) have decided to raise funds for ShelterBox, a wonderful registered charity which is headquartered in the UK and provides emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families affected by disasters.

Along with their musical abilities and winning personalities, Chappers and Stick have long flowing locks … but not for much longer. They have decided to have their hair cut off in return for donations to ShelterBox! Chappers and Stick intend to have their hair cut to at least grade 4, which means they will only be left with about an inch of hair covering their heads, at most.

To make this loss of hair worthwhile, Chappers and Stick are asking people to use this page to donate generously to ShelterBox. The hair cutting is expected to take place at the end of March and video evidence *will* be provided, but to encourage the lads in their fundraising endeavour and ensure donations are available to ShelterBox as quickly as possible, the lads would very much appreciate your help now. Once you have made your donation, please use the links on this page to share this page on facebook, twitter etc.

Every time this page accumulates a donation of £590, ShelterBox will be able to deliver emergency shelter and other lifesaving equipment to a family which has lost everything following a disaster. We have therefore set the target for this page to £2360, in the hope that people will be generous enough to donate for four whole boxes. If this page can raise even more, that would be amazing.

You can read all about ShelterBox on its website, but essentially, each ShelterBox contains a disaster relief tent for up to ten people, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items. An amazing package that will truly help a family to survive, following a major disaster.

ShelterBox is already out in Japan, providing disaster relief. In order to respond to disasters at the earliest opportunity, the charity must ensure it has Boxes assembled and ready to be despatched to affected areas as quickly as possible. Therefore the charity has already begun despatching ShelterBoxes to Japan. All donations made via this page will be received by ShelterBox to provide relief for families facing disaster, though we are unable, due to the emergency nature of the charity’s work, to dictate where the Boxes will be sent. We know, whatever the destination, that any ShelterBox sent will make a huge difference to the family it is given to, while they are facing such devastation.

We thank you all, in advance, for your generosity :-)
