Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
We are raising funds for Meththa Foundation providing support to the limbless in Sri Lanka. This charity provides artificial
limbs, wheelchairs and other aids to the amputees and other disabled people in Sri Lanka. Their help also include children with neurological disabilities. This year its fundraising activities are severely restricted by the COVID 19 pandemic.
The Charity’s work is organised through two well equipped
centres in Mahawa and Mankulam in Sri Lanka with mobile workshops providing services to a wider catchment area.
The annual expenditure is approximately 20 million rupees. UK
fundraising activities generate about £20,000 and used to purchase and sea freight consumables and equipment. The charity obtains
some of the equipment and parts from rehabilitation centres in the UK. As a result of recycling materials the charity keeps the costs low. The charity has a very active research and development programme to fabricate components of artificial limbs using low cost materials to suit climatic conditions.
