Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The money I am raising is for research into a cure for RP, a progressive eye condition causing blindness. I was diagnosed with RP in my 30s and my eye sight has gradually deteriorated over the years. I have been a member of RP Fighting Blindness for many years and supported them in various ways. This charity is important to me as to lose your sight can be very hard to cope with, so to help to find a cure for future generations would be WONDERFUL.
The challenge of walking the 96 miles of The West Highland Way will be a big challenge for me and will give me a great sense of achievement and help me regain the confidence that I have gradually lost over the years. So far, with my walking buddies who have been supporting my training and my goal, I have walked further around Bicker than I have in my last 50-odd years of life! The West Highland Way is one of Britain’s best-known long-distance trails, running 154km (96 miles) from Milngavie, on the outskirts of Glasgow to Fort William at the foot of Ben Nevis. My group, which will be made up of other sufferers of RP, leaders, and sighted guides, will take 7 days to walk the route, with an average of 10 or more miles a day!
People who know me, know that I rise to a challenge and I am a determind lady and will give it my best. Thank you for your much appreciated support and keep watching for my progress,
Celia
