Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Friday 12 June 2020, after four months of headaches gradually getting worse to the point where I was doubled over, holding the left side of my head in pain and unable to do anything else until the pain subsided, my husband phoned for an ambulance and rushed me to A&E where a CT scan finally showed the source of the pain. I'll never forget the words 'I'm afraid it's bad news'.
Fast forward 119 days (17 weeks) to Thursday 8 October 2020 and I was celebrating the end of a four month journey of CT scans, MRI scans, surgery at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and then the full 30 sessions of radiotherapy alongside chemo tablets at Northampton General Hospital.
My MRI scans so far in 2021 have shown a significant reduction in the size of the residual tumour that needed to remain in my head. This shows I have responded amazingly well to treatment and, at the moment, further medication isn't required. I'm very grateful to have my health and fitness.
Brain tumours are incurable and I will be monitored with MRI scans for the rest of my life.
Between Saturday 12 June and Friday 8 October 2021 I am aiming to cover 1206.20 km using a combination of walking and cycling (and maybe some rowing at the gym). My hour of trampolining and two hours of trampoline coaching a week will also contribute to the total. I am #indestructible
