Story
Done it! About one and three quarter hours and just a bit stiff now. Thank you all for your support and donations.
I will be the tortoise on the Survive 10k team but last July I had no idea if I would ever be able to walk normally again, or to do the long walks I love. You can see me below in Exeter A&E after I broke my ankle badly toppling down a hill on the Devon coast.
So this walk is a celebration of a great job by the NHS and a small way to say thank you for God's grace and to all who supported me in recovering, not least my fellow workers at Survive.
Over 6 years in the Survive office I have heard first hand from many service users how Survive has helped them turn their lives around from being victims of domestic violence and abuse to being survivors. The Freedom Programme, our group work for women, really helps them to recover and understand why they got trapped in the cycle of abuse. The Freedom Programme is vital but its future is treatened by cuts in local authority funding this year.
Please give what you can so we can keep offering this lifeline. I am by nature conservative so my target is not high, but I hope my efforts can make a good contribution to the Survive team effort!
