In May 2017, I will be attempting to cycle for Multiple Myeloma patients from London to Paris to raise fund for Myeloma UK.

Myeloma is defined as rear, incurable disease. The incidence is 1/100,000 and common in 55 year-old and above. Patient will be suffering from related symptoms include anaemia, multiple micro-fractrures, renal insufficiency and hypercalcemia which will induce low quality of life. Most patients need to take pain-killer and morphine because of pain from multi-micro fracture. Therefore, it's not only a economic burden for patients and their family but more about carer. Incurable disease means patients will be treated and suffering from relapse and refractory, till end of their life.

Some of you may know that last Christmas I cycled 1500KM from Singapore to Phuket, to raise fund for Kidney Dialysis Foundation (KDF). After that I participated in many endurance events such as AUDAX 200K and my first Ironman 70.3 triathlon at Taitung, Taiwan. Also, completed several ultra solo-rides in South East Asia. But this time I feel very different, as I get to contribute little to society through the sports I love.

2017年5月，我將會參加一場為骨髓瘤患者募捐的慈善騎行，從英國倫敦出發騎行至法國巴黎。

骨髓瘤是一個罕見疾病，發病率每十萬分之一，常見于55歲以上患者，目前仍然是一個不可治愈的疾病。患者發病後因為會出現骨髓瘤相關症狀，包括貧血、多處骨折、腎衰竭、高鈣血症。導致患者生活質量下降，尤其是多處微小骨折帶來的疼痛，並且對於照護者是一個沉重的負擔。患者平均5年生存率為50%，不可治愈的疾病意味著患者終身需要治療，并最終因為反復復發而死亡。

各位朋友也許知道，我是一個醫師，我一直思考的是如何更好的幫助患者，給予患者更好的治療。同時也是一個熱愛騎行的人，最長一日騎行250公里，曾經在7日完成新加坡至普吉島1500公里的無補給單車旅程（solo-ride），并通過了AUDAX200 （長途不間斷騎行200km）及Ironman 70.3的自我挑戰。我感到這個活動的意義非凡，通過這個活動結合了我的興趣，并也能為骨髓瘤患者盡一分綿薄之力。

所有的捐款都會至英國骨髓瘤基金會，該基金會已經完成3項全球大型臨床研究，并有9項正在進行，除臨床研究外，該基金會也致力於全球各國骨髓瘤非政府組織（NGO）合作，藥品研發及藥品通路等。
