Story

London Marathon 2024! 🏃🏻‍♀️

I am in just as much shock as you that I am undertaking this gruelling event 😆HOWEVER… I am so excited to start this journey, ticking off a huge bucket list activity all whilst raising much needed funds for The Brain Appeal.

I will be running the marathon in memory of two special people, my uncle Lawrence Sherrington and dear friend Christine Benson, who both very sadly passed within a few months of each other of the same brain tumour diagnosis, grade 4 Glioblastoma.

The National Brain Appeal raises funds for Queen Square. They provide much-needed funds to support The National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery and the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology – together known as Queen Square. This is one of the world’s leading centres for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with neurological and neuromuscular conditions. Most importantly they are pioneering research for brain tumours.

I’ve been running 3-4 x a week since January 2023, to begin with I started out steady with couch to 5k, this quickly progressed to 10km… 15km… and before I knew it I had set off on a solo half marathon on Easter Sunday around my home town! It’s an extreme way of getting some peace and quiet from the children 😅

My official training block has commenced and I’ll be updating this page regularly with my progress 🏃🏻‍♀️ I have a fantastic running coach, @RunWithFin (Instagram) who creates my programme and is getting me in tip top shape ready for the big day! Please give him a follow for loads of amazing running advice and tips.
